At Georgia Tech, I teach across the Biology curriculum, specializing in Evolution, Genetics, and Ecology. Courses taught include: the Biology of Sex and Death, Biological Principles, Evolution, Ecology, Genetics Lab, and Math Models in Biology. I also teach TA Training. I enjoy teaching with co-instructors to provide a foil or complement for my use of interactive learning strategies in the classroom.
Current projects include the replacement of a commercial textbook with Open Education Resources, course-specific materials written for or curated for students and provided to them at no cost. To date, my colleagues and I have put OER in place for all of our introductory courses:
- Biological Principles (Bio 1): bio1510.biology.gatech.edu
- Organismal Biology (Bio 2): bio1520.biology.gatech.edu
- The Biology of Sex and Death (for non-science majors): bio1220.biology.gatech.edu
